Golf Course Reviews
East Brighton
(East Sussex)
What a fantastic day!! The course was brilliant. No temporary green or tees despite the recent wet weather made this a very enjoyable days golf. The course played very well and certainly proved to be a good test for our small group. The well located halfway house with its views out over the sea were fantastic. The bar and the food afterwards made the day one to remember. I will certainly visit again later this year.
Dainton Park Golf Club
(Devon)
Played this yesterday, or at least 13 holes of it, before the driving rain and wind forced me off. Have to admit I had the course to myself though!
Superb course, well laid out, lightning greens, very friendly staff, what more can I say? I'll be back to finish the thing when it's sunny!
Secret Valley Golf Club
(Cyprus)
An excellent golf course. A joy to play and compete. Cyprus hospitality at its very best. Even if you are having a personal bad golfing day the scenery takes your mind off. Finishing on the 18th green you both savor a very interesting set up of a golf course and the mind blowing scenery you have just spend 4 and a half hours walking through. Excellent amenities at the club house where you can leisurely sit back and enjoy a refreshing drink talking about your game. Thumbs up.
Castle Point Golf Centre
(Essex)
Having read some of the reviews about this course I have waited to play it till I saw some positive reviews.
The course itself is in reasonable condition for a municipal course, well manicured and fast greens. It looks like the powers that be have listened to the critical reviews and have taken action. Only one criticism though, the greens were part bleached, dry as a bone and cracking. A bit of a worry this early in the year, especially as there are water sprinkers surrounding every green. It's obviously an improving course that's moving in the right direction. Once they learn how to use the sprinklers that is.
Ashbury Golf Hotel
(Devon)
Having been to the Ashbury for a number of years I have seen the golf provision improve phenominally!
The four main courses are well maintained (greens can be a little fluffy because the need to keep them long due to the high traffic) and they are constantly striving to improve the courses, adding viewing podiums for safety, providing great hole information at the tees and continuously improving teeing areas and greens.
The real triumph however is the new Kigbear course. You cannot fail but be impressed by the holes that have been created. The views are amazing, the variety of hole is impressive, the greens are monstrous in size with plateaus creating some really testing putts, all adding up to some really challenging and entertaining golf.
The "signature hole" at the moment is the beautiful 3rd however when the 16th opens (I gather pretty soon) it could well take that honour, I fully intend another visit if only to play that hole!
